In the current era of global restaurant design upgrades, high-end sushi restaurants are not merely providing food, becoming a comprehensive carrier that integrates spatial design, cultural expression, and immersive experiences. This article will take the sushi restaurant as an example. From four dimensions – spatial design, material application, furniture selection, and lighting. It will deeply analyze how to create an indoor environment that conforms to the spirit of sushi cuisine.
Design Concept
This store’s theme is a forest wonderland. Through the stacking of multiple layers of natural elements, create an immersive flow from the entrance to the dining area. And the entrance area features a vertical green wall and metal grating. Also, rust-red maple leaves and dark green moss are combined with a golden abstract sculpture installation, adding luxurious elements.
Entering the main dining area, thousands of irregular wooden components hang from the ceiling. And the giant ecological aquariums in the walls, with fish swimming and corals thriving inside, bring dynamic vitality to the static space. And customers can also see the ingredients.
Material Application
The wooden components hanging from the top are a combination of walnut and white oak, and after treatment, the surfaces present varying shades of caramel color. Under the light, a rich gradation of light. These components hung at random angles. At the same time, the uneven spacing controls the light, avoiding direct illumination from the top light source.
The flooring is made of teak solid wood. And the surface varnish retains the natural smoothness and warmth of the wood. Also, the blue luminous acrylic in the bar area is very charming. And coral texture backlight panel looks like a flowing sea surface at night, creating a visual contrast with the seafood dishes on the sushi bar.
Furniture Design
1. Dining area furniture
In our dining area, we have both booth-style and individual tables to choose from. The booths are dark coffee leather upholstery and the backrest is approximately 1.1 metres tall. This provides privacy for diners while allowing maximum height for the view of the wood structure above. And beneath the booths are LED light strips that shine up towards the ceiling, providing warm and light along the wood walls to create a halo effect around them.
A solid wood dining table complements the light grey dining chairs, which provide additional comfort through contrasting materials and surfaces. And the combination of seating for two or four persons ensures privacy when dining as a couple or for social dining situations with groups.
2. Bar counter
A black matte stone surface, with a floating appearance, is the feature of the sushi bar. Contrastingly, the sushi bar below is illuminated with blue acrylic. High stools in front of the bar have walnut frames and beige leather seats, systematically matched to the countertop height. And light pink fabric sofas are located in the lounge waiting area, and slim metal legs give diners a comfortable Brugh.
Lighting
1. General lighting: The ceiling contains built-in pendant lights, which provide a basic, uniform level of illumination to the entire area. Also, linear LED light strips are attached to the back of each of the wooden elements, preventing visibility of the light source.
2. Accent lighting: Above the dining table hangs a custom chandelier constructed from brass and has a frosted glass light fixture that shines down directly above the table. Also, this fixture aims only at the table in order to minimize the amount of brightness hitting diners’ eyes.
3. Decorative lighting: The underside of the seating and perimeter of the aquarium contain light strips that not only add an extra layer of light, but also help create the blue-to-gold gradient.
Conclusion
From the cascading wooden components to the vibrant giant aquariums, from the smooth and delicate solid wood furniture to the well-lit lighting system. And every detail is telling the brand’s story, allowing diners to resonate with the cultural essence of sushi cuisine the moment they step into the space.
