The design of the cake store is an element that helps create a cohesive aesthetic. A minimalist design with lighter colour tones and thought-out pieces creates an appealing and bright setting for showcasing the “sweet” products of the shop. Although the minimalist design looks plain, it uses many smaller details to enhance the focus on the product while maintaining a comfortable environment. The overall appearance of the store offers practical functionality with whimsical cohesiveness within the decor of the store. And creates an inviting and modern atmosphere.
Store Design
The store’s core is made up of 4 colors: white, pale pink, and warm brown. White is the main colour of all surfaces within the store, from chairs and tables to create an open and airy foundation. Pale pink also provides a sweet, playful flair that suits the cake shop theme. The warm brown tones provide warmth for the overall look of the store.
Recessed ceiling lights create uniform light throughout the store, while pendant lights enhance the visuals and provide a warm, focused glow to the customers. Everything is organized but inviting, and there are very few excess decorations, allowing the product to be the focus. It feels open and intimate, providing a great place for both solo and small groups of customers.
Central Counter
The central counter is the main aspect of the overall design of the shop, combining functionality with Minimalism. The central counter has a smooth white base and finished easy-to-clean surfaces to store large glass display cases on top of the counter for display purposes, presenting the cupcakes and pastries from all sides. The menu boards that hang above the central counter are designed to match the minimalistic theme.
To the side of the counter is where open shelving holds glassware and keeps all the important essentials within reach of the employees. In a nutshell, the layout of the central counter was created for efficiency; The front of the counter displays all customer orders, allowing customers to see what they wish to order, while the counter itself allows employees to make up customer orders from behind the counter.
Layout & Decoration
Layout is open and focuses on creating customer experiences.
Three Zones:
(1) Service/counter area located at entrance for easy customer flow.
(2) Center seating zone featuring decorative dividers.
(3) Window-side lounge featuring booths for comfortable seating.
Wall design features:
- Accent wall soft pink or beige with playful text decals to reflect brand’s playful tone.
- Recessed wall niches displaying small cake models add visual interest without cluttering space.
- Mirrored/patterned wall decals reflect light and make shop appear larger.
The designer has thoughtfully created a fashion cake shop that incorporates a minimalist look with functional elements while identifying with their brand. The introduction/article sets the mood for your visit. At the front of the shop, where you will see the baked goods, is a balance of simplified design and warmth. Using soft, muted colors and strategically placed lighting, the shop feels bright and welcoming. The counter focuses on making the product easily visible and accessible while displaying the merchandise clearly. Efficient use of space creates a seamless flow of customer traffic and divides the seating into open and semi-private sections. All design components work together to create the desired goal of comfort and confidence for the patrons.
